Classroom Outdoors
Classroom Outdoors takes specific curriculum-based topics into wildernesss locations and uses outdoor settings to make learning easier and more impactful. These programs complement classroom learning by providing the two basic planks for sustained learning and easy retention which a school cannot provide: an “out-of-comfort-zone environment” and “dealing with the unknown”. Both stimulate the mind to learn new things, enhance volition in the student and provide the “I did it” rather than “I was taught” feeling which stays.
Programs are customized to a school's specific needs and built closely along with school staff. Typically a program covers five topics. Each program includes subject teachers who have worked with inme to develop specific modules. We have successfully delivered modules on Maths, Physics, Geography and EVS. Students experience awe and wonderment in learning in wilderness with practical tools and exercises. Teachers are supported to experiment with new methodologies and reinvent their teaching styles
